UNIFORM GUIDELINES 2023

The uniform items have been carefully selected for their comfort, quality and affordability. The new uniform items can all be purchased through Kingsway Menswear at 42 Devon Street, New Plymouth or online at https://thelockerroom.co.nz/
The ‘old’ school uniform items are no longer available to purchase, but can be worn until 2025.
Year 0 - Year 8
Top - Jade polo shirt, junior school hoodie.
Bottom - Navy Canterbury shorts, navy skort or navy track pants.
Footwear - Black sandals with a strap around the heel or black shoes with black or navy socks.
Year 9 - Year 13
Top - Navy polo shirt, senior school hoodie, soft shell Jacket
Bottom - Black cargo shorts, black Canterbury Club shorts or black Canterbury Stadium pants.
Footwear - Black sandals with a strap around the heel or black shoes with black socks.
NB: Year 7 and Year 8 - As above but can wear either junior or senior school hoodie and blue or black Canterbury pants to enable their sizes to carry through to senior levels.
We encourage uniforms to be clean and tidy. Articles of clothing should be clearly named. Uniforms should be purchased from Kingsway Menswear as we wish to maintain consistency in the uniform items.
2. Hair - should be neatly groomed, some colouration is acceptable .i.e. No full head of overtly bright (NEON) colour. Boys need to be either clean shaven or facial hair must be well groomed.
3. Hats - Sun hats of any colour can be worn but during summer they need to be sunsafe, preferably these will have wide brims.
4. Shoes or sandals - No slides/scuffs for Health & Safety reasons. No white soled shoes or labelled sneakers (i.e. white Nike ticks).
5. Makeup & Nail Polish - Subtle, natural style (i.e. no bright red lips, black eyes) can be worn. Natural, clear, nude colours are acceptable. No coloured nail polish.
6. Jewellery should be kept to a minimum - gold/silver studs or sleeper earrings, rings. Necklaces and bracelets worn only for cultural or medical reasons.
7. Piercings should be small and discrete.
8. Specialist areas - Protective clothing, covered shoes and hair tied back as directed must be worn in specialist areas (NB: expectations may vary according to the safety requirements in the teaching space).
9. PE - Students are required to wear a complete change of clothes for all Physical Education activities. Students can wear their own suitable PE kit. E.g. shorts and a t-shirt, any type of trainers and socks.
10. Sports Teams - Regulation sport uniform (available from coaches) must be worn for all matches. Sports team hoodies are NOT to be worn around school when not participating in sporting activities.
11. Swimming - own swimwear and towel. No swimming cap is required but sunhat should be taken to the pool. Goggles are optional, bring your own.
Any continuous breach of the uniform code will be managed by a member of the Leadership Team. Younger students' parents will be contacted and encouraged to follow uniform procedure.
