Young Enterprise Scheme, 2012
This year we have a team of five students who are enrolled to take part in the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). YES students form a company, become directors and develop products or services which they market and sell.
They require the support of a business mentor. If you would be interested in supporting this team by a_ending some of their meetings or offering advice or by sharing past business experience, please contact Marian Richardson.

Kia ora students, whanau and community. A massive thank you for helping with the school community garden working bee during the school holidays. Everyone worked extremely hard to groom garden beds, mow and mulch. Thanks to Liz from Polly’s Hut, who photographed before and after shots.
I would also like to thank Catherine and Ross for your wonderful effort and enthusiasm. Also, a huge thank you to Richard and Pip O’Sullivan for the large trailer load of calf wood shavings and garden effort, and thanks to Cherrie Stone, Rebecca and Milly Olley, Paddy Hickey and Brigitte and Jordan Luke for your effort; we had a fun rewarding afternoon.
The students have been busy mulching the gardens with compost, calf shed wood chips and about to launch into seed planting for summer and winter vegetables. According to the moon calendar, February 15 is a good time to sow cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and spinach.

Welcome back, we hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday. It’s been a good start to the school year. The climbing frame ropes have been replaced and we are hoping to replace the bark in the playground this term.
We earned $600 from helping with the Olex Cable fun run in Okato last December. Thank you to all of you who gave up your time to help with this, it’s very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to making lots of money with which to support the children at Coastal this year. If you have any fresh ideas for fundraising or would like to be part of the Friends of Coastal Taranaki School, please feel free to come along to our meetings. They will be held the third Wednesday of every month in the staff room.
We are holding our AGM on Wednesday 14th March at 7pm at Cafe Lahar. Nibbles will be provided, we would love to see you there.

Thanks to those coaches who have returned their magazine reports to school. If you have not done so yet, please return them as soon as possible. Also, if you have any good photos of Coastal students at school events that are suitable for publication in our magazine, please either email them to me, or leave a hard copy at the school office (these will be returned).
Thanks, Marian Richardson.
