Science at Coastal Taranaki School is explored at all levels across the school, so every student has the oppourtunity to experience working in a science lab with equipment, and the opportunity to think about the world of science.

Junior students explore topics such as magnetism, floating and sinking, properties of air and water, insects in the local community, and sustainability topics such as the properties and use of plastics.

Intermediate science students focus on enquiry, and carry out practical work on issues in our local environment, as well as prepare exhibits for the Taranaki Science Fair.

Senior science courses are a combination of unit standards and achievement standards in physics, chemistry, geology, biology and sport science. Beyond year 11, students are also offered the oppourtunity to take scholarship classes.
