Sports Academy

Sports Academy

Our Sports academy was established in 2008. Students who show talent and skill in a minority sport are welcome to apply to the Academy. They pay a small fee each term to cover transport costs. Once a week throughout the year these students will have coaching with specialist coaches within the community. The students set goals and these are tracked by academy staff and coaching staff during the year. Students also attend regional and national events during the year; they are given a uniform and also preparation time after school to ensure that their academic studies are not compromised. We meet with academy students and parents once a term to ensure that they are on track and focused in both school and their sport.

2012 has seen the introduction of two squads that run alongside the Sports Academy. A swimming squad of 13 Year 5-9 students is receiving coaching with Fiona Lacey and an Equestrian squad under the guidance of Amara Gibson is also receiving specialised coaching. These squads have been established after it was recognised that we have several talented students in these sports.
